I tutor because I love helping students build confidence in themselves as learners. Watching something “click” and seeing students realize they can do hard things is incredibly rewarding and keeps me excited about teaching.
One student came to me convinced she was “bad at math.” By using visual imagery, talking through her thinking, and celebrating small wins, she became more confident, started participating without fear, and improved her performance but more importantly, her mindset shifted.
I’m patient, highly interactive, and a big believer in active listening. I’m especially strong at breaking concepts down into manageable pieces, adapting to different learning styles, building executive functioning skills, and helping students feel calm and capable.
A positive learning environment is one where curiosity is encouraged, mistakes are part of the process, and students feel comfortable asking questions. Learning should feel collaborative, supportive, and even a little fun.
Being a mentor means showing students that they’re capable of more than they think. It’s about building confidence, modeling perseverance, and helping them develop skills they’ll carry with them far beyond any single class.
