Rena has extensive experience teaching English to students of all ages and has developed a passion for helping her tutees become more engaged, confident, and self-assured in their learning environment. Rena believes all students possess the ability to improve their study habits, and she is dedicated to working with them to learn how to offer the best support available.

• Rena is a trained tutor, having completed a tenure at California State University, Fullerton, shadowing early childhood education instructors, and currently serving as a Teaching Assistant and an English as a Second Language (ESL) Coach at Cerritos College.  
• Rena’s coaching talents include stylistic writing and diction, reading comprehension, analysis, essay reviewing, and academic advising.  

Rena’s tutoring style is based on the foundation of knowing and befriending her students. She aims to build an instructor-student relationship on trust, so she may understand her students and their learning methods. Rena instructs on the belief that each child has their own unique way of absorbing information, and she works to tailor each lesson to accommodate her students’ needs to ensure comfort and a safe learning environment. 

Since Rena’s tutoring style relies on the comfortability of each student, she prioritizes creating and maintaining a positive learning environment. This includes implementing practices from Social-Emotional Learning and Mindfulness Awareness trainings, guaranteeing the comfort of all her students prior to the start of the session. This includes practicing patience, mindfulness, active listening, and positive feedback.

Rena accredits her achievements to having great mentors, so she understands the importance of nurturing such a relationship with her students. Her tutoring style goes beyond instruction, advising, achieving, and celebrating every win alongside her students.
