I've been involved in tutoring language since I was 14 years old. I love helping students learn while building creativity and self-confidence. Tutoring has fueled my own lifelong love for learning and growing while teaching others.
While tutoring a 3rd grader in Hindi, I connected a grammar lesson to an episode of Spongebob. I found that familiar examples made complicated and sometimes frustrating verb and conjugation rules easier to understand. Soon, my student and I continued to practice grammar while talking about their cartoon interests. It was rewarding to see their confidence in their own abilities grow!
My specific coaching talents are patience, active listening, and interactiveness. I've found it essential to truly listen to each student's expectations and feedback, then adapt my approach accordingly. I attempt to make learning more engaging and personalized through open and collaborative discussion.
A positive learning environment is one where students feel confident in their own thought process and feel free to communicate any questions or doubts they may have. Mutual trust and openness are the foundation to the small steps that lead towards building such an environment.
Being a mentor means building a student's self-confidence!
