Why do I tutor?

Sarahjeet has worked with several students who struggled with confidence, test anxiety, and imposter syndrome. Having faced similar challenges, she tutors to help students realize their true potential and learn to regain trust in their academic abilities.

Tutoring Experience

Sarahjeet's first student was a freshman in high school who was immensely shy and crippled from test anxiety. The student would blank upon entering tests, and subsequently do poorly despite nailing the homework. With Sarahjeet's help, she was able to build good study habits that both academically and emotionally prepared her for tests. Soon, she began to blank less during exams and started to see a gradual increase in her grades. Her student ended the school year with an above passing grade and gratitude for the friendship and trust she built with Sarahjeet.

Tutoring Style

Sarahjeet's coaching talents stem from her multitude of mentoring experiences, including patience, executive function development, academic advising, confidence building, and friendship.

Positive Learning Environment

Sarahjeet believes a positive learning environment is one where the student feels safe to speak freely, share their frustrations, and receive gentle guidance and reassurance in return. It is one where the tutor listens without judgment and encourages all forms of learning.

Importance of Being a Mentor

Sarahjeet strongly believes in the power of all forms of mentorship, crediting her success in academia and beyond to it. She strives to not just be a tutor to her students, but also a trusting source of comfort and safety that will unconditionally be on the student's side throughout all their ups and downs. Being a mentor is crucial, as it is the way to foster a true, enjoyable learning experience for students.
